Cloth
The cloth, named plainly
We sell the weaves you will find on the product page. This is what those names mean when you hold them.
Banarasi
A silk drape with zari woven into the border, booti or pallu. It holds a festive evening. Dry clean.
Katan and soft silk
Katan is finer and a little crisp. Soft silk falls more easily and is kinder for a long day. Both want dry cleaning when zari is present.
Kanchipuram
A firmer silk with a temple or contrast border and a substantial pallu. Made for weddings. Pin the shoulder.
Mashru and satin
A smooth face with sheen. It slips while you pleat, then sits glossy. Keep it away from snags and perfume.
Cotton
Cooler, lighter, better for day wear. It creases. That is the cloth, not a fault. Wash gently when the page allows it.
Organza
Sheer and light. It needs a petticoat that matches, and a careful iron on the reverse if the page allows ironing at all.
